第119章 第119章

天龙傲世

**Chapter 119: The Reason**

The echoes of Lin Wan'er's betrayal still lingered in the air, like a festering wound that refused to heal. Xie Yuan's eyes, once ablaze with passion, now seemed to hold a deep sorrow. He stood frozen, his mind racing with the truth.

"Why, Lin Wan'er?" he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. "Why did you deceive me? Why did you betray me?"

Lin Wan'er's eyes flashed with a mixture of guilt and defiance. "I did it for my own sake," she spat. "I did it to protect myself, to protect my family."

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed, his grip on his sword tightening. "At what cost?" he growled. "At the cost of our friendship, at the cost of our trust?"

Lin Wan'er's expression faltered, and for a moment, Xie Yuan saw a glimmer of the girl he once knew. But it was quickly replaced by a mask of defiance. "You would have done the same if you were in my shoes," she sneered. "You would have done anything to achieve your goals."

Xie Yuan's eyes burned with anger, but he knew that Lin Wan'er was right. He had indeed done everything in his power to achieve his goals, to protect his family and his honor. But he had never betrayed someone's trust, never hurt someone he cared about.

"I guess we're not as different as I thought," Lin Wan'er said, her voice dripping with venom.

Xie Yuan's eyes flashed with anger, and he raised his sword, ready to strike. But just as he was about to, a voice interrupted them.

"Wait, Xie Yuan!"

The two of them turned to see Zhang Wei, Lin Wan'er's cousin, standing at the entrance, his eyes wide with concern.

"What's going on?" he asked, his voice trembling.

Xie Yuan's eyes narrowed. "It's none of your concern, Zhang Wei," he growled.

But Zhang Wei's eyes locked onto Lin Wan'er, and he seemed to see something that no one else did. "Lin Wan'er, what have you done?" he whispered.

Lin Wan'er's expression faltered, and for a moment, Xie Yuan saw a glimmer of the girl she used to be. But it was quickly replaced by a mask of defiance.

"I did what I had to do," she spat.

Zhang Wei's eyes filled with tears, and he turned to Xie Yuan. "I'm sorry, Xie Yuan," he whispered. "I didn't know she would do something like this."

Xie Yuan's eyes softened, and he sheathed his sword. "It's not your fault, Zhang Wei," he said. "But we need to put an end to this once and for all."

And with that, the three of them set off towards the unknown, their fates intertwined like the threads of a tapestry. But Xie Yuan knew that the consequences of their actions would be far-reaching, and that the truth would only be revealed in time.

As they disappeared into the darkness, the question hung in the air like a challenge. What lay ahead for Xie Yuan, Lin Wan'er, and Zhang Wei? Only time would tell.
