第86章 "Secrets in the Ember"

太古神王

**Chapter 86: The Whispers of the Past**

The silence between them was palpable, the only sound being the soft crackling of the flames in the background. Qin Wentian's eyes never left Chu Ling'er's, his gaze burning with an intensity that seemed to pierce through the very fabric of reality. Chu Ling'er, on the other hand, felt like she was drowning in the depths of his gaze, her heart racing with a mix of fear and excitement.

"I know that you're hiding something from me," Qin Wentian's voice was low and even, but it sent shivers down Chu Ling'er's spine. "Something that could change everything."

Chu Ling'er's eyes flashed with a hint of defiance before she looked away, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed, his grip on the armrests of his chair tightening. "Don't play dumb with me, Ling'er. I know you're hiding something. And I'll find out what it is, no matter what it takes."

Chu Ling'er's eyes snapped back to his, a spark of anger igniting within their depths. "You think you're so smart, don't you? But you have no idea what you're meddling with. The secrets I'm hiding are not for you to know."

Qin Wentian's smile was cold and calculating. "I'm not afraid of your secrets, Ling'er. And I'll do whatever it takes to uncover them."

The air was electric with tension as the two of them sat there, the flames in the background crackling and popping like a timer counting down to a catastrophic event. Chu Ling'er's eyes seemed to bore into Qin Wentian's soul, as if trying to will him to stop his pursuit of the truth.

But Qin Wentian was undeterred. He leaned forward, his eyes burning with an intensity that seemed to sear the air around them. "Tell me, Ling'er. Tell me the truth. What are you hiding?"

Chu Ling'er's lips tightened, her eyes flashing with a hint of desperation. "I'll never tell you, Qin Wentian. Never."

And with that, she vanished into thin air, leaving Qin Wentian sitting alone in the darkness, his eyes burning with a fierce determination. He knew that he would not rest until he uncovered the secrets that Chu Ling'er was hiding. And when he did, the world would never be the same again.

But as he sat there, lost in thought, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. That there were eyes upon him, eyes that saw right through to his very soul. And then, just as he was about to get up and leave, he heard a soft whisper in his ear.

"You'll never find out, Qin Wentian. But I'll be watching."

Qin Wentian's heart skipped a beat as he spun around, but there was no one there. The whisper seemed to come from all around him, echoing off the walls of the chamber. And then, just as suddenly as it had started, it stopped.

Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. Who was behind the whisper? And what did they want from him? The questions swirled in his head like a maelstrom, drawing him deeper into the depths of the unknown.

And as he sat there, lost in thought, he knew that his journey was far from over. The truth was out there, waiting to be uncovered. But he would have to be careful, for there were forces at work that would stop at nothing to keep it hidden.
