第60章 "Shadowed Loyalties"

太古神王

**Chapter 60: The Circle of Betrayal**

Qin Wentian's face twisted, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. He could feel the weight of his doubts crushing him, like a boulder suspended above a precipice. The revelation about Chu Ling'er's true intentions had shaken him to his core, making him question everything he thought he knew about her.

"Chu Ling'er, how could you?" Qin Wentian's voice was low and deadly, his words dripping with venom. "You said you were my ally, my friend. But all this time, you were secretly manipulating me, using me to further your own ambitions."

Chu Ling'er's expression crumbled, her eyes welling up with tears. "Master, please... you don't understand. I had to do it. The Sect was dying, and I had to save it. I was willing to sacrifice anything, including my own honor, to ensure its survival."

Qin Wentian's gaze was scorching, his eyes blazing with fury. "You sacrificed your honor, all right. You sacrificed our friendship, our trust. And for what? So you could become the Sect Leader?"

Chu Ling'er's voice broke, her tears spilling down her cheeks. "Master, please... I swear to you, I never meant to hurt you. I was desperate, and I made a mistake. But I promise to make it up to you, to do whatever it takes to regain your trust."

Qin Wentian's face was like stone, his emotions frozen in a mixture of anger and sadness. He could feel the weight of his doubts still crushing him, but a glimmer of understanding flickered to life within him.

"Chu Ling'er," Qin Wentian's voice was heavy with sorrow. "I think I need some time to think about this. I need to process everything that's happened. You're right; I don't understand. But I will. And when I do, I'll make my decision."

As Qin Wentian turned to leave, Chu Ling'er's voice called out behind him. "Master, please... don't go. I'll do anything to make it right. I'll do anything to prove my loyalty."

Qin Wentian didn't turn back, his steps echoing through the silent corridors of the Sect. He knew that the road ahead would be fraught with peril, but he also knew that he had to walk it alone. For now, at least.

But little did he know, a presence was watching him from the shadows, a presence that had been waiting for this moment for a long time. A presence that would change everything.
