第22章 "Truth Behind the Deceit"
太古神王
**Chapter 22: The Silent Conspiracy**
Chu Ling'er's eyes sparkled with amusement as Qin Wentian probed her intentions. "You're looking for the truth, but are you prepared to face what you'll find?" Her words dripped with a subtle warning, but Qin Wentian remained unfazed. He knew that Chu Ling'er was a master of deception, but he also knew that he couldn't let his guard down.
"I'm not looking for the truth, I'm looking for the facts," Qin Wentian replied, his voice calm and collected. "And I'll face whatever is revealed with an open mind."
Chu Ling'er's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "Very well, then. Let's get started." With a wave of her hand, the air around them began to distort, revealing a hidden chamber deep within the palace.
Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed as he entered the chamber, his senses on high alert. The room was filled with ancient artifacts, each one emitting a faint aura of power. Chu Ling'er led him to a large, ornate mirror at the far end of the room.
"Look closely," she said, her voice low and mysterious. "This mirror shows the truth, but only if you're willing to face it."
Qin Wentian approached the mirror, his heart pounding with anticipation. As he gazed into its surface, he saw a vision of himself, but it was not the Qin Wentian he knew. The reflection showed him standing on a blood-soaked battlefield, surrounded by the bodies of his enemies.
The vision was jarring, but Qin Wentian knew that it was just a projection. He pushed the mirror aside, his face set in a determined expression.
"What do you want to show me, Chu Ling'er?" he asked, his voice firm.
Chu Ling'er's eyes sparkled with amusement once more. "I want to show you the truth about your past, Qin Wentian. About the secrets that have been hidden from you."
Qin Wentian's eyes narrowed as he turned to face her. "I don't know what you're talking about," he lied, his voice firm.
Chu Ling'er's smile grew wider. "Oh, but you do. And soon, you'll find out just how deep the conspiracy goes."
As she spoke, the room began to darken, the shadows deepening and twisting around them. Qin Wentian felt a chill run down his spine as he realized that he was in grave danger. Chu Ling'er was playing a game, and he was not sure if he was the winner or the loser.
"What do you want from me, Chu Ling'er?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.
Chu Ling'er's eyes flashed with a hint of fear, but she quickly recovered. "I want the truth, Qin Wentian. And I'll stop at nothing to get it."
As she spoke, the room erupted into chaos, the shadows coalescing into dark, twisted creatures that lunged at Qin Wentian. He drew his sword, ready to face whatever was coming his way.
But as he looked around, he realized that Chu Ling'er was nowhere to be seen. The mirror, however, was still intact, reflecting back a image of Qin Wentian that was not his own. The vision showed him standing on the same blood-soaked battlefield, but this time, he was surrounded by the bodies of his friends.
The mirror shattered, leaving Qin Wentian staring into the darkness, his heart filled with a sense of dread. He knew that he had to get out of there, but he also knew that he couldn't escape the truth about his past.
As he turned to leave, he heard a faint whisper in his ear. "The truth is out there, Qin Wentian. But be warned, it's not what you're expecting."
The darkness closed in around him, and Qin Wentian disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind only the faint whisper of Chu Ling'er's words.
