Chapter 98: The Uncertain Path

程星's eyes finally released their grip on the total engineer's, her brain struggling to process the revelation. "A cosmic crisis," she muttered to herself, the words echoing in her mind like a mantra. She felt as though she had been punched in the gut, the air knocked out of her.

The total engineer's expression was unreadable, but his words had been heavy with significance. "The Andromeda galaxy," he had said. "The cosmic veil." What did it mean? What kind of crisis could be so catastrophic that it threatened the very fabric of existence?

程星's gaze drifted back to the console, her mind racing with possibilities. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized that she was no longer just a simple astronomer, but a key player in a cosmic drama.

The total engineer cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "We need to prepare for the worst," he said, his voice low and gravelly. "We can't just sit back and wait for the crisis to unfold."

程星's eyes snapped back to his, her expression stern. "What do you propose we do?"

The total engineer's eyes narrowed, his expression deliberate. "We need to gather as much information as possible, start analyzing any data we can get our hands on. We need to understand what's happening, before it's too late."

程星 nodded, her mind already racing with the implications. "I'll start digging through the archives, see if I can find any mention of the Andromeda galaxy or the cosmic veil."

The total engineer nodded, his expression grim. "And I'll start contacting other experts, see if anyone has any information that might be relevant."

As they began to work, the silence in the room was oppressive, heavy with the weight of their task.程星 felt a sense of unease creeping over her, as she realized that they were venturing into the unknown, with no guarantee of success.

But she knew that they had to try, no matter how great the odds. The fate of humanity hung in the balance, and they were the only ones who could save it.

And so, with a sense of determination and trepidation, they set off on their journey, into the unknown, with only the faintest glimmer of hope to guide them.

But just as they were about to make their move, the console beeped, shrill and insistent. The total engineer's eyes flicked to the screen, and his expression turned ashen.

"What is it?"程星 asked, her voice low and urgent.

The total engineer's face was grim. "It's a signal, coming from the Andromeda galaxy. We're receiving a transmission."

程星's heart skipped a beat as she felt a shiver run down her spine. What did it mean? And what kind of message could be so important that it was being transmitted across the vast expanse of space?

As she leaned in to take a closer look, the console screen flickered to life, and a message appeared, in a language she couldn't understand.

And then, the screen went dark, leaving her with more questions than answers.

To be continued...
