**Chapter 128: The Trap of Illusions**

程星's eyes seemed to bore into the engineer's soul, as if searching for any sign of weakness. The engineer, however, remained steadfast, his expression a mask of innocence.

"I'm not trying to deceive you, 程星," the engineer said, his voice laced with conviction. "I'm only trying to help you uncover the truth."

程星's gaze never wavered. "The truth? You call this the truth? You're hiding something from me, and I won't let you get away with it."

The engineer's eyes flashed with anger, but he quickly regained control of his emotions. "程星, you're being paranoid. I'm just trying to help."

程星's smile was cold and calculated. "Help? You've been helping me all along, haven't you? Helping me to uncover the secrets of the mysterious signal."

The engineer's eyes widened in surprise, but 程星 could see the hint of guilt lurking beneath the surface.

"You're right," the engineer admitted begrudgingly. "I have been helping you. But it's not because I'm trying to deceive you. It's because I think we're on the same side."

程星's laughter was low and menacing. "The same side? You call this the same side? You're just trying to use me, to get closer to the truth."

The engineer's face twisted in a mixture of anger and desperation. "σταν, you're not listening to me. I'm telling you the truth. We're in this together, and we need to work together to uncover the secrets of the signal."

程星's eyes seemed to bore into the engineer's very soul, as if searching for any sign of truth. And then, in a flash of insight, he saw it. The engineer was telling the truth. But why was he hiding something from him?

"Wait," 程星 said, his voice low and urgent. "Let's go back to the beginning. You said you were trying to help me. But who sent you to help me?"

The engineer's expression changed, a look of fear creeping into his eyes. "I...I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered.

程星's smile grew wider, a cold and calculating glint in his eye. "Don't play dumb with me, engineer. I know you're hiding something. And I'm going to find out what it is."

As the words hung in the air, the engineer's eyes darted nervously around the room, as if searching for an escape route. And then, in a flash of insight, 程星 saw it. The engineer was not alone. There was someone else in the room, someone who was watching them, waiting for their next move.

程星's eyes locked onto the engineer's, his voice low and menacing. "We're not alone, are we?"
