第112章 "Reflections of Deceit"

三体纪元

**Chapter 112: The Fractured Mirror**

程星's outburst had left the engineer shaken, but it was clear that she would not be silenced. "You're telling me that the sole survivor of the apocalypse is still out there, and we're just now finding out about it?" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with rage. "What kind of game are you playing with me, Wang?"

Wang, the engineer, rubbed his temples, his eyes wearied by the turmoil around him. "程星, please calm down. I understand this is a lot to take in, but—"

"Too late for apologies, Wang," she interrupted, her eyes flashing with anger. "You should have told me the truth from the beginning. Why did you keep this from me?"

The engineer hesitated, his eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape route. "I was ordered to keep it confidential, by the highest authorities. They didn't want to risk panic or contamination of the data."

程星's grip on the table tightened, her knuckles white with fury. "So it's all about containment, is it? The government's always been good at keeping secrets, but this... this is a different level of deception."

As the argument escalated, the door to the room burst open, and a stern-faced official strode in. "程星, Wang, what's going on here?"

程星's eyes locked onto the official, her anger boiling over. "You're the one who ordered Wang to keep this secret, aren't you? You're the one who's been playing God with humanity's fate."

The official's face paled, but he refused to back down. "程星, you're not thinking clearly. This is a matter of national security, and—"

程星's voice cut through the official's words, her words dripping with venom. "National security? You call this security? You call this justice?"

The room fell silent, the only sound the heavy panting of the official. Wang, still seated at the table, gazed at程星 with a mix of fear and admiration, sensing that she had finally found her true calling.

As the standoff continued, the door burst open once more, and a team of heavily armed agents stormed into the room. "程星, you're under arrest for treason," one of them growled.

程星's eyes locked onto the agents, her gaze flashing with defiance. "Treason? You think I'm a traitor? I'm the only one who's been telling the truth."

With that, the agents closed in, and 程星's world went dark.

To be continued...
