第63章 "Victory's Shadow"

**Chapter 63: The Price of Pride**

The celebratory atmosphere in the locker room was still palpable as Lin Feng and his teammates relived the epic comeback victory over Olympus. The tension and adrenaline had finally dissipated, replaced by a sense of accomplishment and relief. However, amidst the jubilation, Lin Feng couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss.

As he changed into his street clothes, he noticed Coach Li's stern expression, his usual beaming face now clouded with concern. "Feng, we need to talk," Coach Li said, his voice low and serious.

Lin Feng followed the coach to his office, his curiosity piqued. "What's going on, Coach?" he asked, sensing something was wrong.

Coach Li hesitated before speaking. "Lin Feng, I know you're thrilled about the win, but we can't ignore the aftermath. The brawl on the court, the ejections... it's not exactly the kind of publicity we want."

Lin Feng's eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean? We won, didn't we?"

Coach Li's expression turned grave. "Yes, we did, but at what cost? Two of our players are suspended for three games, and our team's image has taken a hit. The CBA is already breathing down our necks, threatening to fine us and deduct points. Not to mention the media frenzy... it's a mess, Feng."

Lin Feng's face fell, his chest heavy with a sense of responsibility. He knew his teammates had gotten carried away in the heat of the moment, but he hadn't anticipated this level of backlash.

"I'm sorry, Coach," he said, genuinely remorseful. "I didn't mean for it to go that far."

Coach Li's expression softened slightly. "I know you didn't, Feng. But we need to make amends. I'm thinking of suspending you for one game as well, as a precautionary measure."

Lin Feng's eyes widened in shock. "What? That's crazy! I'm the captain, Coach! You can't take me away from the team!"

Coach Li's voice remained firm. "I'm sorry, Feng, but I have no choice. The team's reputation is on the line. We need to show that we're capable of discipline and sportsmanship."

Lin Feng felt a knot form in his stomach as the realization dawned on him. His teammates would be affected, and so would his own performance. He was the team's leader, and he needed to make it right.

"I understand, Coach," he said, his voice heavy with resignation. "I'll take the suspension. I just hope you'll reconsider after I've served my time. I promise to make it up to you and the team."

Coach Li nodded, a hint of approval in his eyes. "I expect nothing less from you, Lin Feng. You're our captain, and I know you'll come back stronger and wiser from this experience."

As Lin Feng left the coach's office, he felt a pang of doubt creeping in. Had he taken his newfound fame and success for granted? He looked around at his teammates, still celebrating in the locker room, and wondered if he was truly the leader they needed.

The victory had come at a steep price, and Lin Feng knew he had to pay the price. But would it be enough to restore his team's reputation and his own credibility? Only time would tell.
