**Chapter 37: The Awakening**
As Lin Feng walked away, the sound of his sneakers echoed through the empty hall, the only evidence of the turmoil that had just transpired. Jaxon's eyes remained fixed on the spot where Lin Feng had vanished, his expression a mix of anger, pain, and desperation. How could Lin Feng do this to him? Hadn't they been teammates for years, sharing the highs and lows of their basketball careers?
"Jaxon, stop!" Lin Feng's voice pierced the air, making Jaxon's head snap towards him. "You don't understand what's happening here!"
Jaxon's eyes narrowed. "I understand perfectly. You're choosing the team over me, over us."
Lin Feng's face twisted in frustration. "It's not like that, Jaxon. I'm just trying to do what's best for my team."
"And what about me?" Jaxon's voice rose. "What about all we've been through together?"
Lin Feng's eyes dropped, unable to meet Jaxon's gaze. "I never meant to hurt you, Jaxon. But I have to do this."
The words hung in the air, like a challenge to Jaxon's sanity. How could Lin Feng be so callous, so insensitive to their bond? Jaxon's anger boiled over, his fists clenched at his sides.
"You know what, Lin Feng?" Jaxon's voice was low and venomous. "I think I've had enough of your lies. Enough of your betrayal."
With that, Jaxon turned and stormed off, leaving Lin Feng standing alone in the empty hall. The sound of his sneakers faded away, replaced by the echoes of Lin Feng's conscience.
As the night wore on, Lin Feng couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in his stomach. He knew he had to make things right, to repair the damage he had done. But how? He thought back to the words he had spoken to Jaxon, the words that had caused the rift between them. He knew he had to find a way to regain Jaxon's trust.
But as he turned to leave the hall, he was confronted by a figure he had not expected. Coach Wang, their team's stern-faced mentor, stood before him, his eyes piercing.
"Lin Feng, I know what happened between you and Jaxon. And I know what you're capable of. You have a choice to make: fix this mess, or let it tear your team apart."
Lin Feng's heart skipped a beat. What did Coach Wang mean? What choice did he have to make? The words hung in the air, like a challenge to Lin Feng's very existence.
And as the sun began to rise, Lin Feng knew he had to make a decision. But which path would he choose? Only time would tell.
