**Chapter 31: The Betrayal**
Lin Feng's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications of Jaxon's betrayal. "You're telling me that our entire season, our entire team, was just a setup?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Jaxon's eyes darted around the room, avoiding Lin Feng's gaze. "I know it sounds crazy, but it's true," he stammered. "The coach was in on it, and so were some of the other players. They all knew about the fix, and they all played along."
Lin Feng's face twisted in disgust. "You're saying that our entire team, every single one of us, was just a pawn in their game. That we were all just playing for the sake of the show, not for the love of the game."
Jaxon nodded, his eyes welling up with tears. "I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth. And I'm sorry, Lin Feng. I'm so sorry for what happened. I never meant for it to go down like this."
Lin Feng's anger boiled over, and he slammed his fist onto the table. "Sorry? Sorry isn't enough! You're supposed to be my friend, my brother, and you betrayed me like this. How could you?"
Jaxon's eyes dropped, and he hung his head in shame. "I don't expect forgiveness, Lin Feng. I don't deserve it. But I want you to know that I'm telling the truth. I'm telling you everything because I want to make things right, even if it's too late."
Lin Feng's gaze lingered on Jaxon, his mind reeling from the revelation. He felt like he was staring into the face of a stranger, a person who had been hiding a secret for so long. He didn't know what to do, or how to process his emotions.
As he stood there, frozen in shock, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside the room. It was Coach Wu, the man who had been behind the entire scheme. His eyes gleamed with a calculating intensity as he entered the room.
"Well, well, well," he said, his voice dripping with condescension. "Looks like we've got a little drama unfolding here. Lin Feng, I see you're having a bit of a meltdown. But don't worry, I'm here to help you work through your feelings."
Lin Feng's eyes snapped back to Coach Wu, his jaw clenched in rage. "You're the one who's been behind this all along, aren't you? You're the one who rigged the game, who betrayed us all."
Coach Wu chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, Lin Feng, you're so quick to assume. But the truth is much more complicated than that. You see, I've been playing a much larger game than just a simple basketball season. And you, my dear Lin Feng, are just a pawn in my game."
As Coach Wu spoke, the room fell silent, the air thick with tension. Lin Feng's mind reeled as he tried to process the truth, but it was too late. The trap had been sprung, and he was now trapped in a web of deceit and betrayal.
And as he stood there, frozen in shock, the sound of footsteps echoed once more, this time from outside the door. It was the sound of the game re-starting, and Lin Feng was about to find out that the real battle was only just beginning.
