**Chapter 22: The Whispering Box's Dark Secret**
Chen Yang's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the girl's expression. "What's going on here?" he asked, his voice firm but controlled.
The girl's gaze remained fixed on him, her eyes like two dark pools of water. "This tea room... it's not just any tea room," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's a place where secrets are shared, and whispers are heard."
Chen Yang's instincts screamed at him to leave, but his curiosity kept him rooted to the spot. "What kind of secrets?" he asked, his voice laced with skepticism.
The girl's eyes seemed to bore into his soul. "Secrets that can change the course of your life," she said, her words dripping with an otherworldly intensity. "And whispers that can seal your fate."
Suddenly, the air in the room seemed to grow thick and heavy, as if the very atmosphere was alive and watching them. Chen Yang felt a shiver run down his spine as he sensed the darkness emanating from the girl.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The girl's smile was a mere whisper of a smile, but it sent shivers down Chen Yang's spine. "You'll understand soon enough," she said, her eyes glinting with a knowing light.
As she spoke, the tea cups on the table began to rattle, as if an invisible force was stirring the air. Chen Yang's instincts screamed at him to get out of there, but his curiosity kept him frozen in place.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice laced with a growing sense of unease.
The girl's laughter was like a cold breeze on a winter's night. "You'll know soon enough," she said, her eyes glinting with an unsettling intensity.
Just then, the tea cups on the table slid off, as if pushed by an invisible hand. Chen Yang felt the room spin, and his vision began to blur. When he opened his eyes again, the girl was gone, leaving behind only the faintest whisper of her words: "The Whispering Box's secret is not for the faint of heart."
Chen Yang stumbled out of the room, his mind reeling with the implications of what had just happened. He knew that he had to get out of there, to get as far away from the Whispering Box as possible. But as he stumbled through the dark corridors, he couldn't shake off the feeling that the girl's words would haunt him forever...
