第137章 "Morality's Edge"
剑道独尊
**137章:义剑的选择**
林锋的 Eyes gleamed with understanding as Chenyang's words sank in. "You're saying that Swordsmen lack morals because they make choices based on self-preservation rather than moral principles?"
Chenyang nodded solemnly. "Exactly. When faced with life and death, Swordsmen are prone to choose actions that benefit themselves, rather than adhering to a higher moral code. This lack of moral fiber is a hidden danger among our kind."
Lin Feng's expression turned contemplative. "I never thought about it that way. But what about the code of honor that Swordsmen uphold? Don't they teach us to choose the noble path?"
Chenyang's gaze turned piercing. "The code of honor is just a set of rules, Lin Feng. It's not a moral compass. When push comes to shove, Swordsmen will choose to follow the code only if it benefits them directly. Otherwise, they'll abandon it without hesitation."
Just then, a commotion erupted outside the training hall. A group of junior Swordsmen burst in, their faces flushed with excitement. "Chenyang, Lin Feng, you're summoned to the Swordmaster's chambers!" one of them exclaimed.
Chenyang's eyes narrowed. "What's this about?"
The junior Swordsmen looked nervous. "I'm not sure, but the Swordmaster seemed... angry. He demanded to see you both immediately."
Lin Feng's grip on his sword tightened. "Something's up. Let's go."
As they entered the Swordmaster's chambers, they were met with an eerie silence. The Swordmaster, a towering figure with a stern visage, stood by the window, his back to them.
"Ah, Chenyang, Lin Feng," he growled, without turning around. "I've been expecting you. You're the only ones who can help me with a... delicate matter."
Chenyang's instincts kicked in. "What's going on, Swordmaster?"
The Swordmaster finally turned around, his eyes burning with intensity. "A traitor within our ranks has been revealed. One of our own has been secretly working with the Shadow Clan, betraying our trust and our people."
Lin Feng's jaw dropped. "What?! Who is it?"
The Swordmaster's gaze locked onto Chenyang. "Chenyang, I have reason to believe you know more about this than you're letting on. Care to explain?"
Chenyang's face remained impassive, but his eyes betrayed a hint of alarm. "I know nothing, Swordmaster. But I sense that something is amiss. Perhaps it's connected to the recent strange occurrences in the city?"
The Swordmaster's expression turned grim. "Strange occurrences? You mean the whispers of a mysterious figure, wielding a sword that can shatter the very fabric of reality?"
Lin Feng's eyes widened. "What?! That's crazy talk!"
The Swordmaster's gaze pierced through them. "I assure you, it's not. And I need your help to uncover the truth behind these events. Will you join me, Chenyang and Lin Feng?"
As the Swordmaster's words hung in the air, the room fell silent. Chenyang's eyes seemed to bore into Lin Feng's, as if searching for answers. Lin Feng felt a shiver run down his spine. What secrets lay hidden beneath the surface of their world? And what choices would they have to make to uncover the truth?
