第70章 "Ruins of Victory, Shadows Rise"

都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 70: The New Enemy**

"Victory's Bitter Cost" seemed to echo through the ruins of the Zhang family's stronghold. Lin Qingxue's words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of their triumph. Cheng Wei's eyes never left hers, his gaze piercing and calculating. Mr. Ling, stood motionless, his expression a mask of indifference.

"What now?" Lin Qingxue repeated, her voice laced with a hint of desperation. The silence was oppressive, and she knew they couldn't linger here for long. The city was still reeling from the battle, and they couldn't afford to draw attention to themselves.

Cheng Wei's eyes flickered, his thoughts racing. He knew Lin Qingxue was right; they couldn't stay here. But where could they go? The city was a labyrinth, full of hidden dangers and unsavory characters. He turned to Mr. Ling, his voice low and urgent. "We need to get out of here, now."

Mr. Ling's expression remained impassive, but his eyes betrayed a hint of interest. "Where can we go?" he asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

Cheng Wei hesitated, his mind working overtime. They couldn't return to their old haunts, not after what had happened. The underworld was watching, waiting to pounce on any sign of weakness. He needed a new plan, a new strategy.

Lin Qingxue's voice cut through his thoughts. "We can't go back to our old lives, not after what we've seen. We need to start anew, somewhere the city's underbelly won't find us."

Cheng Wei's eyes snapped back to hers, his mind racing. She was right, of course. They needed a fresh start, a clean slate. But where could they go? The city was their domain, and they knew every hidden alleyway, every secret spot.

"I know a place," Mr. Ling said, his voice like a crack of thunder on a stormy night. "A place where the city's underbelly won't find us. But it's not safe, and we'll need to be careful."

Cheng Wei's eyes narrowed, his instincts screaming warning. What did Mr. Ling know? What secrets was he hiding? And what lay in store for them in this mysterious place?

Lin Qingxue's eyes locked onto Mr. Ling's, her gaze piercing. "Tell us, Mr. Ling. What do you know?"

Mr. Ling's smile was like a snake slithering through the grass, leaving a trail of unease in its wake. "I know someone who can help us. Someone who can provide us with a new identity, a new life. But it won't come cheap, and we'll need to be prepared to pay the price."

Cheng Wei's eyes flashed with warning, his instincts screaming at him to be cautious. But Lin Qingxue's eyes shone with a fierce determination, her voice dripping with conviction. "We'll do whatever it takes. We have to start anew."

As the three allies nodded in unison, a sense of trepidation settled over them like a shroud. They knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, filled with hidden dangers and unsavory characters. But they were ready to face whatever lay in store, ready to start anew and forge a new path.

But as they turned to leave the ruins of the Zhang family's stronghold, a figure emerged from the shadows, his eyes fixed on them with a cold, calculating gaze. A figure who knew their secrets, who knew their weaknesses. And who would stop at nothing to exploit them...
