The unexpected ally had emerged, a figure clad in a sleek black suit, their face obscured by a silver mask. They had appeared out of nowhere, taking down several of the black-hooded and gold-clad attackers with ease. Lin Qingxue and Cheng Wei had welcomed the newcomer with open arms, grateful for the much-needed reinforcements.

But as the battle continued, Lin Qingxue couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The newcomer seemed too skilled, too calculating. They didn't seem to be fighting for the same reasons as Lin Qingxue and Cheng Wei, and their motivations remained unclear.

Cheng Wei's eyes narrowed. "You're just a mercenary. What makes you think you can be trusted?"
