第161章 "Deceiver's Bitter Smile"
都市之最强狂兵
**Chapter 161: The Game of Shadows (Part 52)**
Lin Feng's anger was about to boil over, but Xiao Zhan remained unmoved, his expression as calm as a summer breeze. "You're right, I did play both sides," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But what's your excuse for being so naive? You really thought I would spare your life?"
Lin Feng's face turned beet red with rage. "You're saying I'm naive? You're the one who's been playing tricks on me all along! You're the one who's been manipulating me like a puppet!"
Xiao Zhan chuckled, the sound sending a shiver down Lin Feng's spine. "Puppet? Ha! You're just a pawn in a game larger than you can imagine. And I'm not the only one playing. There are others, much more powerful than me, who are pulling the strings."
Lin Feng's eyes narrowed. "Who are they?"
Xiao Zhan smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, that would be telling. Let's just say that you're about to find yourself in a game of cat and mouse, and you're not even aware of the rules."
Just then, the door to the room burst open, and a group of heavily armed men stormed in. "Xiao Zhan, you're under arrest," one of them growled.
Xiao Zhan's expression never changed, but Lin Feng could sense a flicker of surprise. "Ah, the cavalry has arrived. How...predictable."
The leader of the group, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, sneered at Xiao Zhan. "You're coming with us, traitor. The boss wants to have a word with you."
Xiao Zhan raised an eyebrow. "Ah, the infamous 'boss'. I've heard so much about him. But I think I'll decline your invitation."
With a swift movement, Xiao Zhan snatched a dagger from his sleeve and flung it at the leader. The man yelped as the blade sliced through his jacket, missing his chest by a hair's breadth.
Lin Feng's eyes widened in stunned silence as the room erupted into chaos. The armed men charged at Xiao Zhan, and he met them with a flurry of kicks and punches. Lin Feng watched in awe as Xiao Zhan fought off the attackers with ease, his movements a blur of speed and agility.
As the dust settled, Lin Feng noticed that Xiao Zhan was nowhere to be seen. The room was empty, except for the leader, who was lying on the floor, clutching his wounded arm.
"What...what just happened?" Lin Feng stammered.
The leader glared at Lin Feng, his eyes burning with hatred. "You witnessed nothing, understood? You never saw Xiao Zhan, and you never saw me. And if you breathe a word about this to anyone, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
With that, he scrambled to his feet and disappeared into the night, leaving Lin Feng shaken and bewildered. But as he looked around the empty room, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was being watched. The game was far from over, and Lin Feng was about to find himself in the midst of a deadly cat-and-mouse chase.
