第109章 "A Shadow Returns to Haunt"

都市之最强狂兵

**Chapter 109: The Fiery Reunion (Part 2)**

Lin Feng sneered, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of malice and sarcasm. "Surprised to see me, Xiao Zhan? I'm surprised you didn't expect me to come crawling back, begging for forgiveness."

Xiao Zhan's expression remained impassive, his hand still hovering over the knife at his waist. "You've changed, Lin Feng. Your once-noble heart has been consumed by darkness."

Lin Feng chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Xiao Zhan's spine. "Noble heart? Ha! You're the one who's been eating from the devil's platter, Xiao Zhan. You've been indulging in the sweet taste of power and prestige, forgetting your roots."

Xiao Zhan's eyes narrowed, his voice low and menacing. "You're one to talk, Lin Feng. You, who sold your soul to the highest bidder, who collaborated with the enemy to take down your own comrades."

Lin Feng's smile faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. "I did what I had to do to survive, Xiao Zhan. You know exactly what I'm talking about. We both did the same things to get ahead in this world."

Xiao Zhan's face hardened, his grip on the knife tightening. "We're not the same, Lin Feng. I may have walked the same path as you, but I never forgot where I came from. I never forgot what it means to be a soldier."

Lin Feng snorted. "You're so full of yourself, Xiao Zhan. You think you're better than me just because you've got a few morals left? Newsflash: we're both nothing but pawns in a game controlled by the wealthy and the powerful."

Just as it seemed like the two old enemies were about to clash, a figure burst into the room, interrupting the tense standoff.

"Xiao Zhan, what's going on?" a young woman asked, concern etched on her face.

Xiao Zhan's gaze flickered to the newcomer, his expression softening slightly. "It's nothing, Wei Wei. Just an old acquaintance revisiting past grievances."

The woman, Wei Wei, shot Lin Feng a suspicious glance before turning back to Xiao Zhan. "Are you sure everything is okay?"

Xiao Zhan nodded, his mind racing with the implications of Lin Feng's sudden reappearance. "Yes, everything's fine. Why don't you go get some rest? I'll handle this."

As Wei Wei departed, Lin Feng's eyes followed her, a calculating glint in his eyes. "You've got a little bird in your nest, Xiao Zhan. I think it's time we had a little chat about that."

Xiao Zhan's hand tightened around the knife hilt, his instincts screaming at him to be cautious. "What do you want, Lin Feng?"

Lin Feng's smile returned, his voice dripping with malice. "Oh, I think you know exactly what I want, Xiao Zhan. And I think it's only a matter of time before I get it."

The air was thick with tension as the two old enemies locked eyes, the weight of their past conflicts and the uncertainty of their future hanging precariously in the balance. And as the silence stretched out, it seemed as though the very fate of Xiao Zhan's life was hanging by a thread...
