谍影风云

**Chapter 74: "The Web of Lies"**

I walked swiftly through the dark alleys, my eyes fixed on the entrance of the abandoned warehouse. The building's crumbling façade seemed to whisper secrets in the wind, and I knew I had to be careful. The web of lies was tightening around me, and I needed to unravel it before it was too late.

As I pushed open the creaky door, I felt a familiar tingle on the back of my neck. I was being watched. I scanned the dimly lit interior, my gaze lingering on the shadows that danced across the walls. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness, its features illuminated by the faint moonlight filtering through the broken windows.

"Lin," the person said, their voice low and husky. "I see you're still alive."

I drew my gun, my finger resting lightly on the trigger. "Viktor. What a surprise. I wasn't expecting you to drop by."

Viktor, the leader of the Night Ravens, smiled lazily. "I heard you were getting a bit close to the truth, Lin. I had to pay you a visit and...persuade you to keep your mouth shut."

I narrowed my eyes, my mind racing with the implications. Viktor was supposed to be on my side, or at least, that's what I thought. But now, I wasn't so sure.

"What do you want, Viktor?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

Viktor chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "I want you to know that you're not as clever as you think you are, Lin. You're just a pawn in a much larger game, and I'm the one who's calling the shots."

I felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins, my gun hand trembling with anger. "You're bluffing, Viktor. You wouldn't dare—"

Viktor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with malice. "Wouldn't I, Lin? You have no idea what I'm capable of. But don't worry, I'll give you a choice. You can either work for me, or...die trying to stop me."

I snarled, my instincts screaming at me to take him down. But something held me back. A nagging feeling that Viktor was playing me, using me to get to someone else. Someone I cared about.

"Tell me what you want, Viktor," I growled, my voice low and menacing. "And I'll decide whether to play along or take you down."

Viktor's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Ah, Lin. You're so predictable. I'll tell you what you want to know, but only if you agree to play by my rules."

I hesitated, my mind racing with the possibilities. Viktor's game was far from over, and I knew I had to tread carefully if I wanted to survive.

"Agree," I said finally, my voice dripping with reluctance.

Viktor's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with triumph. "Excellent. Then let's get started, shall we?"

As I nodded, a chill ran down my spine. I had just sealed my fate, and I knew that nothing would ever be the same again.
