**Chapter 61: "The Whispering Walls"**

I ordered a cup of black coffee, my mind still reeling from the events of the past few days. The encounter with Li had left me with more questions than answers, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was walking on thin ice.

As I sipped my coffee, I noticed a figure sitting in the corner of the cafe, dressed in a long coat and a fedora. There was something familiar about him, but I couldn't quite place him.

"Mind if I join you?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.

I hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Not at all. I'm just waiting for someone."

He slid into the booth across from me, his eyes locked onto mine. "I'm afraid you're in the wrong place. This isn't a meeting spot."

I raised an eyebrow. "And who are you to know?"

He smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "I'm someone who's been keeping an eye on you, Night Raven. You're quite the legend in certain circles."

I felt a shiver run down my spine. How did he know my alias? And what did he want?

"I'm not sure what you're talking about," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral.

He chuckled. "Oh, come now. You're not as good at this game as you think you are. I know all about your little arrangement with Li. And I know you're in trouble."

My eyes narrowed. Who was this guy? And how did he know about my deal with Li?

"You're telling me you're Li's partner?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

He shook his head. "No, but I have a proposition for you. One that could get you out of this mess and into a much better position."

I raised an eyebrow. What did he have to gain from this?

"What do you want in return?" I asked, my hand resting on the edge of the table.

He leaned forward, his eyes glinting with intensity. "I want information. And I'm willing to pay top dollar for it."

I felt a surge of adrenaline. This guy was either very brave or very foolish. And I was starting to think it was the latter.

"I'm listening," I said, my voice dripping with skepticism.

He smiled again, that cold, calculated smile. "Good. Because once I'm done with you, you'll be begging for mercy."

And with that, he stood up and walked out of the cafe, leaving me to wonder what I had just gotten myself into.

As I sat there, trying to process the conversation, I realized that I had a decision to make. Did I take a chance on this mysterious stranger, or did I play it safe and stick with my original plan?

I took a deep breath, trying to clear my head. I knew one thing for sure - I couldn't trust anyone in this game. But maybe, just maybe, this stranger held the key to my freedom.

And with that thought, I made my decision. I would take a chance on him, and see where it led me.

But as I stood up to leave, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Li, his eyes blazing with anger.

"I knew you'd fall for it," he said, his voice dripping with venom. "You're no match for us."

And with that, everything went black.

To be continued...
