第32章 "Shadows Behind the Smile"
谍影风云
**Chapter 32: "The Web of Secrets"**
I scrutinized Li's face, searching for any sign of deception. His expression remained calm, but I could sense the tension emanating from him. I knew I had to be cautious, for Li was a master of manipulation.
"So, Li, you're saying that you didn't know anything about the encrypted files on your server?" I asked, my voice firm but controlled.
Li's eyes flickered, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of unease. But it was quickly replaced by his usual calm demeanor. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, his voice heavy with innocence.
I raised an eyebrow. "Don't play dumb, Li. You know exactly what I'm talking about. The files were encrypted, but I managed to crack the code. And what I found was shocking."
Li's expression remained stoic, but I noticed his eyes darting towards the door, as if he was searching for an escape route. I knew I had to keep pushing him.
"Siar, the files contain sensitive information about the organization's operations. It's clear that someone within the organization is working against us," I said, my voice rising in intensity.
Li's eyes snapped back to mine, and for a moment, I saw a flash of anger. "Who are you accusing?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing.
I leaned forward, my eyes locked on Li's. "I'm accusing you, Li. You're the only one who knows about the encrypted files. And I know you're hiding something."
The air was thick with tension as Li's face turned red with rage. "You're mistaken, Shadow," he hissed, his voice dripping with venom. "I'm not the one who's hiding anything. You're just paranoid."
I laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Paranoid? You're the one who's paranoid, Li. You're the one who's hiding something. And I'm going to find out what it is."
The silence that followed was oppressive, the only sound being the heavy breathing of the two of us. I knew that I had pushed Li too far, and that he was on the brink of snapping.
Suddenly, Li's face contorted in rage, and he lunged at me, his fists clenched. I dodged his blow easily, but I knew that it was only a matter of time before Li lost control completely.
I raised my hand, signaling for Li to stop. "Let's talk about this, Li," I said, my voice calm and even. "Let's clear the air once and for all."
Li's eyes flashed with anger, but he slowly backed down, his chest heaving with rage. "Fine," he spat. "But you're not going to like what you find out."
I smiled, a cold, calculated smile. "I'm not afraid of the truth, Li. Bring it on."
And with that, the game was on. I knew that Li was going to try and deceive me, but I was ready for him. I was going to uncover the truth, no matter what it took. But as I looked at Li's furious face, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead.
Would Li's secrets be revealed, or would he manage to keep them hidden? Only time would tell. But one thing was certain - the stakes had just been raised, and the game was far from over.
To be continued...
