第141章 "Lost in the Past"

谍影风云

**Chapter 141: "The Forgotten Memory"**

I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. The photograph had been with me for as long as I could remember, yet I had no recollection of who she was or why I had it. I turned it over, searching for any clue that might lead me to the truth.

Just then, my comms device crackled to life. "Shadow, this is Night Raven. We have a situation that requires your immediate attention." I recognized the smooth, cultured tone of my handler, but a sense of unease crept up my spine. Night Raven never used my code name unless it was serious.

"What is it?" I asked, already getting into action.

"We've received intel that a mole has infiltrated our organization. We need you to verify the information and take care of the situation."

I nodded, even though I knew he couldn't see me. "I'm on it. What's the situation?"

"A high-ranking officer has gone rogue. He's been making unauthorized transactions and accessing classified files. We believe he's compromised our security."

I felt a cold dread creeping up my spine. This was not good. "Give me the details. I'll take care of it."

I listened intently as Night Raven briefed me on the situation. My mind was racing with possibilities. Who was this mole? And how had they managed to get so deep into our organization?

I arrived at the base, my heart pounding in my chest. I made my way to the officer's quarters, my gun drawn. I knocked on the door, and when it opened, I was met with a familiar face.

"Ah, Shadow," he said, a sly grin spreading across his face. "I've been expecting you."

I narrowed my eyes. "What's going on, Major?"

He chuckled. "You really don't remember, do you? I've been working with you for years, Shadow. You're one of our best operators."

My mind was reeling. This man was an officer, a trusted member of our organization. And yet, I knew that couldn't be true.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I lied, trying to keep my cool.

The Major laughed. "Oh, Shadow. You're so predictable. You really think you're a spy? You're just a pawn, a tool created by us to carry out our missions. You're not even human."

I felt a wave of rage wash over me. This was not the truth. I was who I said I was. But a nagging doubt crept into my mind. Was it possible that I was wrong?

The Major pulled out a folder filled with documents and photographs. "Look at this, Shadow. You'll see the truth."

I took the folder, my eyes scanning the contents. The more I looked, the more my mind reeled. This was not the truth. This was a fabrication, a lie designed to keep me in the dark.

And then, I saw it. A photograph of the woman from the picture I had found. The same piercing green eyes, the same curly brown hair.

My heart skipped a beat. Who was she? And what did she have to do with me?

The Major's voice snapped me back to reality. "So, Shadow, are you ready to learn the truth?"

I nodded, my mind racing with possibilities. But before I could ask any questions, the room was filled with the sound of gunfire.

I drew my gun, ready to take on whatever was happening. But as I looked around, I realized that I was completely alone.

The Major was nowhere to be seen. The documents were scattered all over the floor. And I was left with more questions than answers.

Who was I? What was my true identity? And what was happening to me?

I looked down at the photograph in my hand, the same piercing green eyes staring back at me. And for the first time in years, I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, I wasn't who I thought I was.

But before I could explore that thought further, the room was plunged into darkness. And I was left with only one question: what was about to happen to me?
