第33章 "Lies Entwined"

重生之都市仙尊

**33rd Chapter: The Web of Deceit**

Lin Qingxue's eyes flashed with determination as she stood up, her gaze never leaving Ye Gucheng's face. "You're coming with me," she said, her voice firm but controlled.

Ye Gucheng's smile was lazy, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think I'll pass," he drawled, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Lin Qingxue's face hardened. "Don't play dumb, Ye Gucheng. You know exactly what's going on. The elders are getting restless, and they're not going to take your betrayal lying down."

Ye Gucheng chuckled, a cold, mirthless sound. "You really are as predictable as ever, Lin Qingxue. You think I care about the elders' opinions? I've got a new plan, and it doesn't involve getting tangled up in their web of deceit."

Lin Qingxue's eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about?"

Ye Gucheng leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "You know, I've been thinking. The only way to take down the elders is to play them against each other. And I have just the person in mind to help me."

Lin Qingxue's jaw clenched. "Who is it?"

Ye Gucheng's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with malice. "Someone who owes me a favor. Someone who's been waiting for the perfect moment to strike back at the elders."

Lin Qingxue's eyes widened in horror. "You can't be serious. You're talking about using the Heavens' Fury against the elders?"

Ye Gucheng shrugged. "Why not? They're going to destroy each other, and I'll just be along for the ride. Besides, it's time someone took them down a peg. Or several."

Lin Qingxue's face twisted with disgust. "You're a monster, Ye Gucheng. I thought I knew you, but it seems I was wrong."

Ye Gucheng's smile faltered for a moment before he recovered. "Ah, Lin Qingxue. You always were so quick to judge. But let me tell you something. In this game, only the strongest survive. And I'm going to be the one on top."

The air was thick with tension as the two former friends locked eyes, the weight of their past and their secrets hanging precariously in the balance. Lin Qingxue knew that she had to make a choice, and fast. But what would it mean for her, for Ye Gucheng, and for the fate of the city?

As she stood there, frozen in indecision, a chilling thought whispered in her ear: what if Ye Gucheng was right? What if the only way to take down the elders was to use the very same darkness that had destroyed her life once before?

The world around her began to blur, the shadows closing in like a noose. Lin Qingxue knew that she had to make a choice, and fast. But what would it mean for her, for Ye Gucheng, and for the fate of the city?

To be continued...
