**28th Chapter: The Confrontation**

Lin Qingxue's heart was racing as she locked eyes with Ye Gucheng in the grand hall. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she took in his familiar face, the same one she had remembered from her childhood. The same one she had thought was just a figment of her imagination.

"What are you doing here?" Lin Qingxue's voice was trembling as she took a step back, her mind racing with questions.

Ye Gucheng's expression remained calm, but his eyes seemed to hold a hint of amusement. "I could ask you the same thing, Lin Qingxue," he said, his voice low and smooth.

Lin Qingxue's eyes narrowed. "How do you know my name?"

Ye Gucheng's smile grew wider. "Oh, I know a lot of things. Things that even you don't remember."

Lin Qingxue's temper flared. "What do you mean? What aren't I remembering?"

Ye Gucheng chuckled. "Let's just say that you're experiencing a little memory loss. A little amnesia, perhaps."

Lin Qingxue's eyes flashed with anger. "You're implying that I'm lying? That I'm pretending not to remember?"

Ye Gucheng's expression turned serious. "I'm implying that there's more to your past than you're letting on. More to your memories. And I'm here to help you uncover the truth."

Lin Qingxue's heart pounded in her chest. She felt like she was trapped in a spider's web, with no way out. "Why should I trust you?" she demanded.

Ye Gucheng's smile returned. "Because I'm the one who can help you remember. The one who can help you clear up the fog in your mind. And maybe, just maybe, help you figure out why you're feeling so... uneasy."

Lin Qingxue's eyes locked onto Ye Gucheng's, her mind racing with questions and doubts. She didn't know what to believe, or what to do. But one thing was certain - she couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to change forever.

As they stood there, the tension between them palpable, Lin Qingxue felt a strange sensation building in her chest. It was as if her heart was trying to scream, to cry out for help. But the words were stuck, trapped in her throat like a scream in a nightmare.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the sensation vanished. Lin Qingxue was left standing there, panting, her heart racing with anticipation.

"What do you want from me?" she demanded, her voice trembling with fear.

Ye Gucheng's smile grew wider. "Oh, Lin Qingxue... I want to take you back to where it all began. Back to the moment when your life changed forever."
