**149章:Shadows of Deceit**

Chen Yang's eyes narrowed as he watched Lin Xuan walking away, his heart still heavy with the feeling of betrayal. He couldn't believe that someone he had trusted and considered a mentor had betrayed him in such a way.

"Chen Yang, you're still sitting here?" A soft voice interrupted his thoughts.

Chen Yang turned to see Dr. Tan, a senior doctor at the hospital, standing beside him. "Just thinking about everything that happened," Chen Yang replied, trying to keep his emotions in check.

Dr. Tan nodded sympathetically. "I know how you feel. It's hard to believe that someone we trusted could do something like that."

Chen Yang's anger and frustration boiled over. "Why did Lin Xuan do it, doctor? What was he thinking?"

Dr. Tan's expression turned serious. "I'm not sure, Chen Yang. But I can tell you that Lin Xuan's actions are not uncommon in the medical field. Sometimes, people prioritize their own interests over the well-being of others."

Chen Yang felt a surge of determination. "I won't let him get away with it. I'll make sure everyone knows the truth about what he did."

Dr. Tan placed a hand on Chen Yang's shoulder. "Let's not jump to conclusions, Chen Yang. We don't know all the facts yet. Let's just focus on supporting each other and moving forward."

Chen Yang nodded, knowing that Dr. Tan was right. But his anger and determination still simmered beneath the surface.

Just then, Chen Yang's phone rang. He answered it, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Dr. Liang, is that you? What do you want?"

Dr. Liang's voice was low and urgent. "Chen Yang, I have some information about Lin Xuan's past. It's not good. I think you should know."

Chen Yang's heart raced as he listened to Dr. Liang's words. "What do you mean? Tell me everything."

Dr. Liang hesitated before speaking. "Lin Xuan... he's not who he says he is. He's been hiding something, Chen Yang. Something big."

Chen Yang's mind reeled as he processed the information. He felt like he had been punched in the gut. "What do you mean? What is he hiding?"

Dr. Liang's voice was somber. "I'm not sure, Chen Yang. But I think you should be careful. Lin Xuan is not what he seems."

Chen Yang's eyes narrowed as he ended the call. He knew he had to find out the truth about Lin Xuan's past. Little did he know that his decision would set off a chain of events that would change his life forever.

As he stood up from the bench, he felt a familiar tingle in his fingers. It was the same sensation he had felt when he first discovered his medical skills. This time, it was different. This time, it was a warning.

"What's going on, Chen Yang?" Dr. Tan asked, noticing Chen Yang's sudden change in demeanor.

Chen Yang's eyes locked onto the hospital building in front of him. "I think I'm going to find out the truth about Lin Xuan's past," he said, his voice low and determined.

Dr. Tan's expression turned serious. "Be careful, Chen Yang. You don't know what you're getting yourself into."

Chen Yang smiled grimly. "I'm not afraid. I'm going to uncover the truth no matter what it takes."

And with that, he walked off into the shadows, leaving Dr. Tan and the hospital behind. The fate of his medical career, and his life, hung in the balance.
